Haha.. Don’t get drawn in..

You know those young folk that stand around on busy city streets, with their clip boards and wild pitches! Either trying to get you to sign up for something sign some petition or just want to let you know about this great new product that you just can’t live without… And they’ve usually got strange first liners like “Do you like British accents?”, “Do you like going to the beach?” or “Do you like to laugh?”… For most of the cases the answer is going to be “Yes” this then leads on to some followup question… and before you know it you’ve signed up for an overnight stay in some crap hotel on the other side of the country!

Well I’m here to advise you to answer NO to that 1st question! At all costs! Resist people!! Or at least give them some kind of response they’re not expecting so you don’t get drawn in to the scheme…

Like just before while walking to work I was asked - “Do you like whales?”

To which I responded - “I don’t know I’ve never tried one, what do they taste like?”

Tried and failed…?

Below is some advice, drawn from a humorous self-insight, which I gave to a friend (she knows who she is!) who has been unsuccessfully job hunting of late.

You know why I’ve such a large ego? The same reason I’ve consistently remained single for lengthy periods between serious relationships… I don’t go out of my way to meet chicks, I don’t put myself out there on the line and try to pick them up, so its only very rarely I every meet a girl who sparks enough interest from me to do something about it (not to mention historically they’ve always made the first move)… And hence I’m never turned down, never let down, and never taught the difference between reality and my little imaginary world I live in where I AM GOD.

Now the question I put to you is would you rather get a few ‘let downs’ before getting the job you want? And perhaps through this experience potentially gain some more experience? I know I’m trying to change my ways!

Don’t forget the saying “It’s better to have tried & failed, then to have never tried at all…”

Although back to my ego, it could arguable be the cause (of bachelorhood), not just a similar effect of my disassociation from ‘reality’ :P Haha!
