Spoilt…

Tag: Life, LoveGrantus Maximus @ 10:56 pm

Okay so its been awhile but some of us have lives that are lived offline, or so I’ve heard.

About that quit smoking resolution.. well, it didn’t last but I’ll have another attempt at it sooner or later.

The other weekend was the birthday of the young lass I mentioned I was seeing in an earlier post. Leading up to this I was preparing to really spoil her, just because I could… After all what good is working so hard for your money if you can’t share a bit of this with someone who at that point meant something special (yes past tense, but I’ll get to that).

The most random thing happened though.. We’ll wind back the clock to a day the week before hand her birthday weekend. I was in a Ultra Suite a some designer boutique in the Valley. I knew she had been eyeing off a dress in there so I went in armed with only a very vague description, the words “size 6″ and a fat credit card limit (thankfully considering those prices!).

After attempting to describe something I’d never seen and trying to source a better description from her friends, I was led around the store by the “Sales Team”… Frequently receiving comments like “Ohh these are very popular at the moment”, “Ohh she would absolutely adore something like this”, “Oh My God, you have to buy her this!”… Despite their efforts I wasn’t swayed from my task.. nothing I saw I was particular confident about meeting the description..

At about the time same time I was giving up in dismay, using my phone to take photo’s of potential dresses to see what the friends thought. Guess who’s voice I hear on the lower level of the store! It was like seeing a ghost (or hearing).. The very girl I was shopping for… Just happens to walk in to the same shop, at the same time. I was in an area she couldn’t see at that point and just mouthed to one of the Sales Team “THAT’S HER”.

I was quickly hurried in to a nearby change room in case she came up. Shortly after one of the Sales Team grabbed me out and ask for my number saying she’d call after she left… She was downstairs in another room trying stuff on… Close call.. Crisis averted..

I message her friend who was ’suppose’ to stop her from shopping until the weekend.. As I’d planned to give the gift before then.. He calls and tells her to stop shopping, but better yet says it was ME who spotted her! ARGH!! She messaged asking to catch up since I was in the area. My cover up.. “Sorry was just driving through and saw u. I didn’t think u heard me beep”.

Soo anyways I hear back from her telling me about this dress she’s put on hold in a different store.. And that I should come check it out cause its soo HOT… Does it get any easier? I now knew the store and that it was on hold!! With her heading off to work for the remainder of the day I knew she couldn’t pick up… I rang the store told them I’d get it tomorrow morning and that if she called to say she couldn’t hold it over night. After picking it up the following morning I also asked they give a cover story saying some other girl purchased it earlier…

You should have heard the names she was calling this imaginary girl when she found out… Haha! She was soo disappoint that I gave in on the phone and told her that I had picked it up… Anyways 30mins later she was still in disbelief, but starting to come to terms with it … Not without continuing to say “I don’t believe you” every so often though.. :P

So the total birthday surprises consisted of:

  • A corset top and matching skirt by some ‘apparently’ famous Perth designer
  • A pair of heels to replace her favourite pair which were lost recently when loaned to a friend
  • 2 tickets to the Moonlight Cinema
  • A dinner for 2 at Jade Buddha which coincidently was her favourite restaurant
  • 2 stretch limousines the night of her birthday
  • a large novelty sized sherry glass filled with chewing gum and chuppa chupps (she’s a serious addiction to both)

But we’re not seeing each other anymore… So why spend soo much on money on someone you’re unsure you have a future with? Mainly because I enjoy seeing gifts received that obviously had a lot of thought/effort put in to them… (don’t just any of you expect this kind of effort from me though! hehe)

Ohh and at the end of a life time which birthday do you think will stand out? ;)

New years resolutions… They hurt!!

Tag: Laughs, LifeGrantus Maximus @ 10:54 pm

A word of warning to everyone… Think very carefully before saying ANYTHING to me, I’m just a little bit edgy at the moment!! Why? Cause I quit smoking AGAIN yesterday… I’ve only been smoking for the past few months since just before heading to Thailand. Before that I HAD quit for the three months… although I made up for this time by smoking nearly a packet a DAY of late!!

Just kidding I don’t get aggressive or short tempered easily, that’s not to say my Tourette’s might not come back.. :P

So this is day two of quitting cold turkey… Speaking of which - Where The Fuck did that saying come from?!? Honestly!!? Why not quit Warm Lasagne..? But anyways… I had an attempt at this last week. Lost the battle on the night of day two… Just the usual crap: “You can have just one, think of it as quitting slowly“.. “You’ve lasted 2 whole days you deserve it“.. “You can have one, just do twice as much exercise to make up for it“.. “Everyone else smokes, wait until all your friends quit“.. “Smoking is good for you, think of the vitamins“… Hehe… I may have lost that battle but the War isn’t over yet!

To coincide with this event I’m also jogging again of an evening and have drawn up a new weights routine that commenced last night!! I’ve been a slacker recently, I don’t think I’ve done any gym since Thailand…. And before I went I had a routine going 5-6 nights of the week. Watch out Arnold, Here I come!! After all what better way to get in to politics, build the body, get the movie roles (no inglesh skills required), and Waa Laah you’re in politics! Hrrm…

So now the question is… What was your new years resolution? And now being 10 days in, have you still stuck to it…? ;)

Doing NYE Sober…

Tag: LifeGrantus Maximus @ 10:50 pm

Had you of asked me 6 months ago whether it was possible to remain sober on NYE - I would have most definitely spat my mouthful of alcohol in your face… Assuming of course I was drinking at the time.. Hrmm.. Let me see, 6 months ago, the odd’s are definitely in favour of you smelling like RedBull Vodka…

Now I’m not drunk, nor a drunk (although just say the word)… But lets just say I’ve done A LOT of partying in my time, some occasions harder than others ;) and typically NYE is the one party of the year you DONT miss out on. But as this blog’s subject would suggested I had a somewhat quiet evening…

Now before any of you pass judgement (Yes, I can hear those “He’s changed” murmurs..) let me explain myself…

Exhibit A: One of my friends is a Pro Wake Boarder and has access to a private lake and a speed boat with all the frills. Now about 50 mates decided camping out there with a generator and a DJ on some Decks was an ideal way to spend NYE… Hardly my cup of tea.. Sure the music would have been great, but I’ll wait till I turn hippy, before ‘going to nature’ for a good time…

Exhibit B: I had tickets BBQ Breaks (a dance music event) that started 11am New Years Day! Sponsored (aka a Xmas gift - Thanks Kate!) by a hawt chicky I know. Now I know some of you Professional Party Animals are saying why not just party straight through… Well that’s what happen last year, not good… Long story which wasn’t about to be repeated this year!

Exhibit C: Some remaining friends who did go out clubbing went to venues like the Family with special guests like Pete Tong (UK’s BBC Radio 1’s Overrated Celeb) and cover charges like $70… As if you would!?! Particularly being in my situation wanting to have a somewhat early night for a BIG New Years Day!

So what did I do? (At this point I must thank you for bothering to read this lengthy post!!).. I attended a close knit little house party which migrated to a local hotel for the ‘count down’ (party poppers, sparklers etc supplied.. Hehe), then after the parties attendees were primed for the evening we drove in to the GPO Hotel where ‘Chef’ had free drink cards waiting… I stayed there for a couple of hours before heading home to prepare for NYD, which is a whole other story I might just share with you all one day…
